BIO
Hanne Bird (b. 1981) lives and works in Järvenpää, Finland.
Her family roots are in North Karelia.

Bird paints boldly, combining a wide range of techniques. She currently creates colorful works using acrylics, natural pigments, ink, egg tempera, and oil paints. In parallel, she is working on long-term projects using the mischtechnik of the old masters, while studying classical drawing and painting.
Her painting process is deeply meditative. The works are earthy, powerful, intuitive, and expressive, built up through multiple layers. Bird is known for the use of circles and her rich, diverse color palette.

"My work delves into the world of visionary and spiritual art, where nature, the universe, and the deepest human emotions converge. I explore the use of color and form to express the energy of life in its many manifestations. All living beings and all that exists are united by a shared universe and a deep connection to one another. My paintings are intuitive, raw, mystical, and abstract, yet often contain elements that connect to nature. I blend contrasts, surfaces, layers, and a variety of techniques. I strive to merge the techniques of the old masters with contemporary art, continuously developing my visual expression."

Bird is a member of the Loviisa Art Association, the Finnish Artists’ Association, the Finnish Watercolour Society, the Helsinki Art Association, and the Järvenpää Art Society.
